Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Over 20 albums were released by her. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk and alternative rock although it also has elements of punk, funk, hip hop and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement, and was among the first artists to create her own label 1990. DiFranco was born on 23rd September 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father was Italian heritage as was her mother born in Montreal. Ani DiFranco wrote and sang 32 Flavors. The song is featured on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. DiFranco started taking courses in Buffalo State College at age 16 after graduating from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. After three decades of her professional career DiFranco acknowledges that she's got diverse feelings about seeing in the rearview.
